How to Remove "Suggested for You" Accounts on Instagram
Updated June 2026
Instagram's "Suggested for you" shows up in two annoying places: as accounts to follow in your feed, and โ more awkwardly โ on your own profile, where Instagram recommends similar accounts to your visitors. Here's how to deal with both.
Hide individual suggestions in your feed
When a "Suggested for you" account appears in your feed, tap the โ on it to dismiss it. Instagram learns from this over time and shows fewer of that type. You can't fully turn the feature off, but dismissing trains it.
Stop similar accounts from showing on YOUR profile
This is the one most people want. When someone visits your profile or follows you, Instagram can show "Similar accounts" โ sending your visitors elsewhere. To turn it off:
- Profile โ Edit profile.
- Find Show account suggestions on profiles.
- Toggle it off.
Now visitors won't be nudged toward competing accounts from your page.
Why it's worth turning off
If you're trying to grow, you don't want Instagram funneling your hard-won profile visitors to other creators right at the follow decision. Switching it off keeps the attention on you โ a small, free win.
Clean profile, clean audience
Turning off suggestions tidies the outgoing side of your profile. For the incoming side โ who follows you and who doesn't โ UnfollowScan compares your own export (no login, in your browser) so you can trim non-followers and keep a genuine audience. See our cleanup guide for the routine.
